Control System Engineer
Working at Ocean Harvesting Technologies AB you will be part of an exciting venture and a dedicated team to bring our advanced and highly competitive wave power technology to the market, with the mission to speed up the transition to renewable energy and a sustainable world.
We are currently strengthening our core team and are looking for a Controls Engineer to take a leading role in the development of the control system for our novel wave energy converter InfinityWEC. You will preferably be based either in our office in Karlskrona or in Gothenburg but may also be working remotely from elsewhere in Sweden or Scandinavia.
The first task is to implement the control system for the power take-off in a scale 1/10 test rig. This means working closely together with our simulation engineer on the integration of the Matlab/Simulink-based control algoritm into a TwinCAT 3 (Beckhoff) realtime system. The control system optimizes the buoy motion to maximize the power output, by doing advanced model prediction and using that to steer the power take-off force through each wave. In parallel you will be working in a case study to develop the control system design and requirements for a full-scale wave. This includes the integration with the grid, including energy storage to provide smooth and reliable power supply, both short and long term. In the coming years we will design, build and do sea trials of InfinityWECs, first in scale 1/3, subsequently in full-scale and finally at a commercial wave farm level.
The following skills are desirable for the job
Experience from renewable energy projects in wind/solar/wave/tidal as well as offshore oil & gas is a strong plus.
